About Me

Aspiring ecologist, conservationist, do-gooder, explorer, adventurer, beach bum.

Since 2007, I have been living the dream as a Ph.D. student at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in beautiful San Diego (near my home town of Poway).  I am a student at SIO’s Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation and in the Ocean Biosciences program.  Most of my research experience deals with behavioral ecology of mammals and birds; my research interests are more related to broad behavioral ecology questions rather than a particular taxonomic group, however.  While behavioral ecology is my “pure science” passion, conservation is more of a life passion that incorporates my love of ecology and nature, and my concern for human well-being.  I am particularly interested in conservation in tropical developing countries.
